throttle body?

  1. #1
has anyone bought or no of anyone who has a ported & polished throttle body of ebay. are they any good?, isit worth the money for the gains?
    thanks

spencer_cammedvts does them on here pm him mate
  3. #3
personally dont feel that they are worth it.

will get the huge physics explanation when i can find it again.

Ive heard people say when they have taking the modified one off to sell the car or what ever the drive is shit compared to when it was on.

Reading that made me get one

i wana get some for my vtr but dont know anything bout it
  6. #6
this is just the one mate, the standard one is polished up to improve airflow and its made less restrictive

think you may be on about 4 throttle bodies that replace the whole inlet manifold

some?? you mean throttle bodies? not just a polished std one.

    wtf...... lol

are you wanting throttle boddies or a p+p throttle body to replace the one you have now?

    just to clear that up
  11. #11
i want boddies but i was just asking bout the standerd ones.

well you wont know its worked unless you actually test it, would be interested if somebody is prepared to do a rolling road before and after

Guess people just like relatively "cheap performance parts". But you often see cars that have had one or two thousand pounds worth of these parts added with very disappointing power gains. Even more disappointing is the drive ability of most of them. Its a lot of money for not a lot really. The old saying "is something is worth doing its worth doing properly" is truer then ever.

you would need to do it on the same rolling road, same day, same ambient temp etc........

no1 who wants a cheap bhp increase would do that imo

i know what your saying but its worth a look even if you get a little bit of response, id much rather save for a set of throttlebodies but not everyone has that sort of money unless they put it away and save up

well you could do it on the same day just have both throttle bodies at the ready and swap them over see if theres any difference, but you cant say it does nothing when you dont exactly know if it does, proff of a readout would be handy then i would think about doing it myself

just alot of people rave that they are super, when in reality the gains are minimal if at all.
  19. #19
a wouldnt say there super they just help the aid of restrictiveness and airflow, id say you would notice it a bit but not gain much power from it

sometimes though the engine needs to not have a huge TB as to speak, hence why the size of throttle bodies vary, you wouldnt fit 50mm throttle bodies on a saxo, most use 40/42 for example, theres just many ifs buts and maybes and everyone is looking for a mod for all, when in reality there isnt.

also a polished surface sometimes doesnt aid airflow, as a vortex effect can be created from a rough surface which increases gas speed.

    in simple terms.

id like ad to comment more tbh due to his physics background

i would like to see proof that they do something after seeing his last one got for about 80 pound, thats like 80 towards some cams

£80 is alot for a dremel and some polishing compound lol.

not when you already have them, im in engineering but there a bit too fiddly to put in the chuck on a lathe
