superchip or no chip

got my 90bhp vtr... decat'd, proper induction kit and cams.
thinking of a next step in gettin it chipped!
anyone had there rev limiter raised?
whats a average price i should pay?
anyone had any bad time with it done?
    is it worth getting done?
  2. #2

nope no remap. id love to get it on the rolling road and get it mapped like that and actually see what power it has! how much do you think that costs?
  5. #5
superchips are a wastte of time, cost about £330, when for an extra £120 you can have the car mapped properly.

wasnt thnking it was going to cost around the £450 mark like to be honest!
mate of mine had his series 1 rs turbo mapped, he was gettin 200brake with little mod's, i know he paid only £180 !

turbos are different usually! As are diesels, and different car manufactueres etc...

cams wont work properly without a re-map

yes! it would be better to get an RR and an appropriate re-map than a generic chip

im in the dielema by either selling my car and gettin a series 2 rs turbo or modifying mine further. pound per brake thinking a rs is going to be a more logical 1.6 racer even though my love of saxo's as ive owned 3vtr's n 1vts

obviously the sarcasm was lost there lol!

rs turbo will be a bag of rust unless you pay £££££

saxos are better drivers cars than fords any day imo!

forums dont mean anything, i personally wouldnt spend £300 on a mod without doing proper research into it first.

lol yer i see the sarcisim now ha. lot of 1.6's that keep up with or go beyond a vt*. v-tec's etc. i wrote a fair few cars of now and insurance is catching back up with me. thinking of big bhp gains either sticking with saxo's or goin elsewhere. the worlds my oyster well with 1.6's they are ha.

    turbo it!

they wont know what hit them! (literally if you write it off)
  22. #22
thought about it long and hard lol about turbo'n it but it definatly came to the conclusion not to, as i pulled over lil_dirty_pugga in his white 106 gti turbo and the amount of oil what was pissing out of the bottom made me reconsider, even though i think i fell in love with that 106.

well thats a mechanical faualt rather than the turbo fault! it dont mean they are not worth it!

the TU5JP4 engine can be tuned up too 400 bhp with the right amount of ££££££
  24. #24
yes i know, mechanical faults. just leads me to belive problems and more problems. i use my car day to day, i couldnt afford not to be where i needed to be. big bhp's are probly more prone to un-reliabilities. i need the best of both worlds.

vts throttle bodies, what type of bhp gains from them like?
would they be a straight fit... when i wrote my vts and selling it of in spares, alot of people were asking me for my injector;s for there vtr's, does this really make a differance?
  28. #28
no! the injectors will make no difference unless the ECU is telling them to squirt more!

TB's and a nice lairy cam will give you circa BHP gains equivialnt to forced induction
  29. #29
o yeah. i definatly need more bhp gains soon. wednesday night.. cruise night around here. up incoming months want my car to be a real sleeper untill a unleash it ha !

it will be under the power of forced induction! depending on your budget a Tb/cammed 16v will hit 160-180bhp (180 needing forgies etc.. in most cases)

BUT the noise! thats so good it can make grown men empty their nuts from 400yards!
