GTI Engine in a Quicksilver

  1. #1
Im buying a Quicksilver and a mate has a gti engine with an after market ecu!!!

My question is, would the engine just fit in?

Im sure it would, its more the ecu im questioning??

I cant remember what manufacture the ecu is but its an after market, standalone.

What complications can be expected if any?

Am i best getting a garage to do this?

I have a vts here which i could use as a donor to copy were everything plugs in etc..

Would this be possible or the ecu need wiring or anything?

    I appreciate the help!

you will need the engine and loom, it will fit although you may have to swap the top engine mounts around. as for the ecu which one is it? but it should be a straight forward swap

i cant remember what the make was, ill know on monday when i go back over, all i know is its an aftermarket ecu to run the cams.

it comes with engine, ecu and loom and full exhaust including mainfold

what do i do about engine mounts? will i use ones on quicky engine or will engine need to come with the mounts?

wont he sell just the ecu?

what you mean wont he just sell the ecu?

the ecu should be wired in/ plug and play. So remove everything from old car and plonk into new.

As long as it's mk1-mk1 or mk2-mk2 it should be plug and play, as the standalone is in the original car and working so should be fine if you use it's engine loom as long as the afore mentioned conditions were satisfied.

Although I think some early mk2's used mk1 single plug stuff, but don't quote me on it.

the engine is out a mk1, 1 plug ecu, i know that for a fact!!!

so is there anything i need? what about the engine mounts?

and do i need a vts radiator?

Don't need a vts radiator at all mate, just will do a better job of cooling it than a quicky rad.

Right I for some reason assumed it was just a mk1 saxo with a mk1 vts loom. Quicky's I'm not so sure about as if they are similar to the gti, don't they have 2 plugs on the engine loom to car loom? While saxo's are 1 plug on single plug engines?

If Gabbastard comes on he'll be able to tell you, he knows everything about french cars

im not sure as im picking the car up through the week, if the quicky is 3 plug, does that mean the ecu and loom with vts engine will not be able to be fitted?

it's not 3 plug I'm talking about. I assume thats the ecu side of things. I'm talking about the engine loom to car connector bud.

Have a search for vts/gti loom differences and it should highlight what I'm going on about.

ive tried but its harder for me as im unsure exactly how to search and what to look for exactly

was hoping someone could answer that for me as alot of people on here know what they are on about

Although still doesn't answer what kind of connectors quicksilvers have car to engine loom and no offence but I'm not doing the searching for that!

i have done a bit of reaserch on other ppl doing the convertion, and they have had to send of a 106 loom and a 16v loom to have it addapted.

but i dont undertsnad, as wouldnt the loom of the gti engine be any good? what i mean is wont it have the right plug to plug into the car connector plug since its for peugeot?

or the quicksilver and gti different?
