You want to buy a 4-2-1 manifold for a cracking sound should give you better top end as well may come at a bit of a costy price! If you looking at £80-£140 then a 4-1 manifold there got a really nice sound but not as good top end!! Personal choice 4-1 mani!!

Two are designed specifically for your car
    The Raceland 4-1
    The Piper 4-1

Ive got the piper, cant fault it.

I thought the 4-1s gave a better top end but lower torque at low end compared with a 4-2-1?

    No

4-1 give more top end of the rev's

4-2-1 gives more in the mid range of the rev's

I've got a mk2 vtr with a unit 3 4-1 manifold, straight through mid section and a piper backbox. I got 109.4hp and 112lb/ft torque on a rr (only other mod is a cheap industion kit) and as for noise its awesome, it pops and bangs like mad and is so raspy!
