got out of work today at 11am so as it was sunny i thought id do a bit of work to the motor.so i decided to de-wedge the throttle body for the sum of £3.50

the wedge is the silver bit on the butterfly

as you can see its a bit restrictive

tried to undo the screws but they just rounded so out with the cordless and ended up with this

    £3.50 well spent

bit of tape to hold the metal in place while it set

    holes filled like so

    ended up with this.

took the motor out for a spin and noticed a brave difference in throttle response so im happy.

also fired together a oil catch tank as i had all the parts lying about

    thanks for looking

do you know what the part is meant to do in the first place (the one you take off)?

just wondered why its there if it doesnt do anything and just restricts
  6. #6
did it make any difference ?
  7. #7
made a good difference in throttle response and seems to rev better at high rpms (after 4.5k rpm)

    I have a Mk2.

Why didn't you clean your butterfly up, get off all that gunk? Less air resistance
  13. #13
i did lol just didnt take a pic. also filed down the access resin. the mk2 has 10 more bhp maybe thats where the silver top is restricted. (not saying i got any extra bhp)

I was asking about this last year and no one had any idea! Good to see a guide kinda thing!

that probably adds some weight to allow the plate to snap closed quicker when you come off the throttle and will have next to no effect on air flow.

checked mine, Silver top 99 mk 1 vtr i dont have it either

*edit) i have a blacktop vtr

I wonder if my Rally S2 one will fit the VTR manifold, plugs might be different though but its a lot bigger and no silly throttle restrictions
