Engine keeps juddering...

I have a mk2 Saxo VTR (51) - I have just had a new multi relay put in because it was drinking too much fuel.

Before i had this fitted, I would be driving down the road and it would just start jumping and some times it would even cut out.

It started doing it again this morning on my way to work. Does anyone know what it could be or if youve had this problem?

It does it in any gear, happens at any sort of speed I think - Darent go to fast in case it happens badly or anything.

Any help would be much appriecated.

Is it worse when on light throttle?

and fine on WOT (wide open throttle) ?

I'd say the ICV.. As that caused my engine to judder violently on small amounts of throttle.. but ICV plays no part on WOT

Clean it as a last chance - then buy one if it doesn't sure it.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

It think it does, if it does start juddering, I usually put my foot on the clutch and it stops.. does your idea sound like a fix still?

How do i clean it? I have no idea where it is. I only know about things on my car from them going wrong - Which since this is my third saxo - gradually building! haha

Fair enough - Ill give this a try - I read at the bottom of the thread that it could be the MAP sensor as my car WAS over fueling before - Still might be but my fuel Gauge is broken.

    Thanks.

Yeah map sensor will be the one to look at if the ICV don't fix it,

Faulty map sensor is usually a bad idle / hesitation on acceleration

Yeahh it does sound like that too - Do you know where MAP sensor is located? Thanks.

Depends which style of inlet you have lol, but it looks like this : http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34192

Yeaah thats where mine is, has a sort of green labell on it. I assume ill need to match the codes on it to a replacement.

My car doesnt just judder every now and again now - It seems to lose power too - Very intermitent. Correct me if im right, but the Map Sensor gives random readings doesnt it, so if its faulty and gives the wrong reason at the time, thats when the car wont work as it should right?

    I need payday!

MAP sensor basically tells the ecu how much air is in the inlet, and adjusts fuel to suit.. So yeah if faulty it does cause bad running / hesitation.

Try cleaning the ICV first as it's free.. if still bad give a local motor shop the code off the map sensor and get a replacement. Mine was £36, but made such a difference.
