Mini superchargers

Is it possible to make a mini supercharger fit a vts and would there be much work involved? I'm sure I've seen it before on someone's Saxo

The mini has an oval inlet to the supercharger. You want the Mercedes C180 one

I've not measured it up but its a fair bit of work. Not massive. Might need a custom pulley at one end, its something that would have to be measured up properly and to see where you would want to route all the induction pipes and whether the supercharger pipework sit in the right place to work.

Thats certainly not a mini supercharger. Rotrex?

Looks like an Eaton charger. Rotrex is about half the size.

    The Mk2 is turbo'd!

Is that not the Jackson supercharger ? Best with rotrex uses up less room and lighter for a start

It's been done. I've seen 3-4 different examples. The most popular solution being similar to the image above with a BFO shaft across the front of the bay.

The Eaton M45 charger as fitted to the Mini Cooper S is hulkingly inefficient compared to a Rotrex or a similar turbocharger set-up. I had a long look into getting one for a previous 8v build that stayed NA and added some compression instead. I recall finding the compressor maps, they're probably on my PC somewhere...

It'd be cool and it'd put a smile on your face, but you'd always know you could have built something much better.

I looked at eaton chargers when i first thought of s/c cars
,as posted they are very power hungry to drive and makes huge amounts of heat ,they need a recir system .
you will be dissapointed in power lift with one due to the extra power they take to drive and the high inlet temps

    COMPARE
std 1598cc mini with eaton charger ?1bar of boost =160bhp @fly wheel

    saxo 1587cc with rotrex and 7psi =170-180bhp@flywheel
1 bar with internals mods will give 250 all day long
we you can buy them cheap --,but a hard to fit .
the onlu upside is that you will have boost at a lower rpm level, but as rpm rises it then falls behind due to ineffiencies

it will work and the mini sze is the correct one --not the merc ocmpressor --to large and more power loss
