Help fitting keyless entry system

  1. #1
Hi guys, I have a 02 plate VTR which has central locking but not remote central locking!

The seller stated that it came with full instructions however all that was included was a basic wiring diagram!

I am capable of splicing a few wires together however I just need to know exactly where they are and if the colours of the wires are the same as the diagram I have! Also I would like to know exactly what wires I will need to splice together in order to get it working as I'm sure not all of them are needed!

If anyone could give me a step by step guide it would be muchly appreciated!

    Cheers

    Welcome to the forum

We're gonna need a lot more detail than that dude... Post up some photos of what you've got, the wiring diagram, etc, and I'm sure someone will be able to help

PS - I see the sash on your missus says "& legal" - can we take guesses at the first part? I'm going with "Ready"

Edit: Just seen you've done that as I posted. Nice one

Yeah I realised after I had posted it that I would probably need to include pictures!

You're nearly there! It says '18 and legal' haha! Was taken a couple of years ago on her 18th

But she was legal at 16... surely? Unless you mean for bumfun. In which case, she's a keeper. Nice work.

I guess the banner can be interpreted in a number of different ways!

Anyway off the subject of my girlfriend, what are the chances someone's going to be able to help me get this installed or will i have to pay an auto electrician to do it?

That wiring diagram is pretty self explanatory, albeit in terrible English.

    I'd suggest you pay someone.

Well if the colours of the wires are the same then it would be pretty self explanatory however from what I've read sometimes the wires are a different colour!

I'm guessing the wires in question are on the passengers side in the compartment under the glove box? I'll have a look! I just need to know which wires I have I worry about and which ones I can ignore, like the trunk release for example

I would expect all the wires in the interior loom to be a different colour from what is on that plug. I'll almost guarantee it will not match up.

You need a wiring diagram of the interior. You usually need paid software to get these, however there are ways to circumvent this if you know what you are doing.

Other than that, you can trace the wires and figure it out yourself.

Remember, one wrong wire and you could set your car up in flames. Any hint of doubt and you should pay some one who knows what they are doing.

may sound like a stupid question, but how do these work with the car alarms? as I unlock/disable my car with my alarm key fob?

1st off you need to find out which trigger it is. It's been a while since I done alarm works on a saxo but 80% sure it's a negative trigger (get it double checked before going ahead with fitting otherwise your blow something) soon as you've found out if it's positive or negative triggers then the rest of the job is fairly easy. The wires are on the passenger side, your be looking for blue, grey and green/yellow wires on the front door locks. On the boot lock green and pink wires. Green/yellow is negative so if you put a negative to the other wires it should trigger the locks to help find out which colour is to lock and unlock the car.

Your VTR will have RCL already, chances are somebodies lost the fob to it.

if you got hold of the keycode and someone with a lexia you could program a new key to the car
